Clonal Blend Pinot Noir 2018

  • The season was slightly warmer than average with the grapes hand picked in perfect condition between March 16 and March 22. It is made from 7 clones of Pinot Noir grown at Eldridge Estate, picked as the individual clones reached their perfect mix of flavour and acid. The grapes were destemmed and a natural ferment took place 5 days later lasting another 9 days before being pressed in our very gentle air bag press a further 5 days later. The wine was placed into 228 litre French oak barriques, 33% new for a total of 16 months before being bottled in October 2019. The flavours are superb and a beautiful expression of cool climate Pinot Noir. In terms of a comparison with previous vintages it is very like the Clonal Blend of 2006 and 2017 showing the classic red berry aromas of Pinot Noir grown at Eldridge and a very sumptuous palate.
