Clonal Blend Pinot Noir 2017

  • The 2017 vintage was a little cooler thn normal with lower crop levels. This wine is a blend of the finest fruit from the property It is a mix of 7 clones although the highest proportion is the Pommard clone. Lovely ripe fruit that is beautifully crafted with oak. An elegant wine that shows florals, undergrowth that positively glows with red cherry and a little rose petal delicacy. The silky tannins let the fruit flavours roll around the mouth and provide great length. A great reflection of the vintage, a wine with charm and length. The bunches are destemmed but the resulting skin and juice mix contains 95% whole berries. A 5 day pre-fermentation cold soak preceded a natural ferment with no yeast being added. The wines were pressed in our gentle air bag press (see winemakers diary under the Cellar Door web page) and then aged in French oak barrels from a range of tonnelleries.
