Thank you for visiting Eldridge Estate.

Our Goal
We aim to produce hand crafted wines of distinction that are true to the grape variety and the flavours from our unique site.
Where We Live
Eldridge Estate is located 90 minutes south of Melbourne on the Mornington Peninsula. The area is full of beach and holiday towns, golf courses, horse riding, nature reserves & and wineries. The 'Peninsula' has long been a playground for the people of Melbourne, yet Red Hill remains a peaceful rural community.
Our vineyard is situated on Arthurs Seat Road, between the Red Hill turn-off and Red Hill South shops. The entrance to the Estate is past the Showgrounds (site of the famous Red Hill market) and 100 metres East of Andrews Lane. Look for our flag that says we're open!
Why We're Here
It's a beautiful setting (there are pictures on this site), but it's also near perfect to make our hand-crafted single vineyard wines. We have 3 hectares (7 acres) under vines, all with superb views of the valley and hills behind the vineyard and winery. The vineyard has an altitude of 225 metres at a Latitude 38 22' 16" and Longitude 145 1' 11" . So in altitude and climate, the site is similar to Burgundy in France.
The soil is a rich terra rosa volcanic loam on a north facing slope that drops 45 metres from the top, near Arthurs Seat Road, to the spring-fed dam at the bottom of row 1 (160 metres long). It is protected from harsh winds by natural land forms which result in a long, cool, ripening period. The soils are volcanic loam from the Ordovician era, ie about 200 Million years before present time. This means that the combination of ancient landforms and soil have combined to produce a truly unique set of conditions that make our vineyard special. The vines have been trained into what is known as the Scott Henry system of canopy management to provide the best possible flavour development at our unique site.
When You Visit Us
Our new cellar door provides visitors with a multi-sensual experience. The view is stunning (many people go straight to the deck before tasting), but we think it's the sensual flavours and textures of our wines that are the real stars of the show. After tasting, why not relax, take in the view, and enjoy a glass of wine (or a bottle) on the deck with a platter of locally made cheese on our deck. When you buy our wine, you take some of the vineyard and the view with you - it features on our label.
Our Milestones
Wendy and David bought the vineyard in 1995 and have since transformed it with a continual program of grafting, canopy management and replanting (500 vines).
The vineyard is now predominantly a mix of Pinot Noir (5 clones) and Chardonnay (5 clones). It also has Gamay, Sauvignon Blanc and a little Semillon. Our first release was in late 1997, a Chardonnay from 1996 which received great reviews immediately.
Our second release was the Pinot Noir from 1997 which was produced in sufficient quantities to enter the Cowra wine show where it achieved a GOLD medal and equal top score.
Our first Trophy was in the Southern Victorian Wine Show where the Chardonnay from the 2000 vintage was awarded the best Chardonnay and Best White wine of the show.
In 2006 we were asked to represent Australian Pinot Noir at the International Pinot Noir Celebration in Oregon.
